All Aflutter

By gregorie

I am not sure what it means when a certain thing continues to pop up in your life. Is it a sign or a message or from someone? Recently butterflies have invaded my life. Yes, butterflies! I have never been a huge fan of them when decorating but this year they are flitting about everywhere. Here are some examples:

I’m pretty sure this was once an ashtray!

I love this large asian screen print, the colors are amazing together!

No words on this Christian Lacroise pillow from Designers Guild!

Lastly this beautiful metal cancer survivor butterfly made specifically for the special person holding it. She has beaten it twice! Local Greenville, SC artist, Yuri Tsuzuki, creates these beautiful butterflies as symbols of the possibility of victory over this terrible disease.

“And butterflies are free to fly, fly away!”

Wallpaper Hack

By gregorie

Last year at the Atlanta Market I saw this incredible wallpaper in the Worlds Away showroom. My entire house is painted white but I was looking for something to spice up the foyer. I knew right away I wanted this look…

Wallpaper can be a big investment and commitment and since I was afraid I wouldn’t like it forever I decided to call my friend, Melanie, who does all types of creative wall paintings and faux finishes. She mocked up a sample and I loved how it was a little less bold…

Melanie and her daughter knocked it out in a day and a half. I couldn’t be more thrilled! And the best part is, if I ever grow tired of it I can easily paint over it. Here is my foyer today…

Market Finds

By Christa Sorauf

We just got back from a whirlwind market and we enjoyed three busy days of shopping for clients and looking for new vendors. It’s interesting to see literally millions of new products and pieces but with all the diversity and choices you still see certain trends emerge among them, starting with Chesterfield sofas…

Screen shot 2015-01-14 at 7.27.47 PMWe’ve noticed Chesterfields popping up in every decor magazine but they were everywhere at market. We’re having one made for a client in chocolate velvet and we also have a vintage one for sale in the studio that’s right on trend.

Another trend we embrace is made in America and we found an amazing studio creating beautiful furniture in Los Angeles that’s also quite reasonable like this beautiful sofa…

Glam and gold is another trend that’s going strong like the bench above and we’re crazy for these beautiful decorative hardware pieces below, we can’t wait to create some new furniture with these finds…

Another trend we’ve embraced is mid-century modern, perhaps because we’re such MAD MEN fans and it was everywhere at market like our friends from Worlds Away who featured these Milo Baughman inspired chairs…
