With the emergence of Brooklyn as a design hot spot, there’s been a trend towards industrial chic furniture that looks right at home in converted factories and living spaces. As I walked High Design in Americas Mart, a twist on this trend is what I call ORGANIC INDUSTRIAL, which combines functional design with more organic elements such as animal skins and softer fabrics. Gregorie ordered a modified version of the bench above for her house and you can see more amazing pieces from this exhibitor athttp://www.camillahouse.com. More market picks and pics coming this week…

Market Gold Rush

By Christa Sorauf

GoldRush

I was really interested to see how the gold and brass trend was going to play out at Americas Mart and you could see it everywhere from home decor to jewelry. I shared pics from Ashley Childers’ booth yesterday and here are some more pieces that were featured. I’m seriously considering the gold fluted table for my dining room and the malachite chandelier rocks my world. It looks like gold is back and in a big way. You can view the entire collection at http://emporiumhome.com. More market pics coming soon…

High Design Market Trends

By Christa Sorauf

AshleyChildersWe rcently returned from the Americas Mart in Atlanta for the Home and Gift Show and all I can say is — wow what a weekend! I was busy frommorning to midnight every day but it really is any girl’s dream come true as you have the opportunity to see all the latest in design and home trends. Saturday was filled with meetings for our licensed product line but on Friday we scouted new furniture and accessories vendors. I fell in love with everything in Ashley Childer’s booth in High Design. First, let’s start with the incredible yellow and purple malachite wallpaper — I’m already thinking about where I can use this — absolutely obsessed! I loved everything in this booth, the silver and gold accents mixed with great pops of colors. You can read more about Ashley on her website and view her entire collection at http://emporiumhome.com/. More market pictures to come…
